The Two Year Olds
Our supportive teachers interact with the two-year olds throughout the day modelling social skills and positive attitude as the youngsters move from one learning choice center to another. Our twos start including other classmates in their play. They learn to follow 2-step instructions, engage in activities to practice hand-eye coordination skills by completing large piece insert-type puzzles, shape and color sorter blocks, finger painting, scribbling with large crayons or chalks. They also enjoy exploring outdoors and gross-motor activities: climbing on playground equipment, running, kicking ball, riding scooting toys. The group teachers help the children in this group to practice colors, counting and building their vocabulary by encouraging them to join in singing simple songs and finger plays, reading short stories and pointing to illustrations, asking questions and prompting conversations.
